Sputterbird Spreader BarsThe “Sputterbird Spreader Bar” has three “Sputterbird” teasers attached to the bar, making the bar shake and transmit motion to the following squid. The “Sputterbirds” also follow the contour of the waves so the bar stays flat on the surface.
Vibrations travel down the center line to the stinger attached at the rear. The stinger vibrates and moves by the action of the "Sputterbirds" which make the stinger look alive and struggling. Using three Sputterbird teasers allows the bar to run well back from the boat, as far as 200 ft. The bar has a three line harness constructed of 400 lb. clear Jinkai line attached to a 36" titanium bar using heavy crimps and line protectors. Multiple lines drop back from the bar and teasers, carrying 9 to 12 squid. Center line is 400# Jinkai. The last squid contains a hidden snap swivel for attaching a stinger (not included). It is best to use a stinger with a nose weight to run 1-3 feet below the surface. See the "Stinger" section for choosing a hooked bait, or try a "Saucy Machine" or "Saucy Bullet". The “Sputterbird 17 Spreader Bar” is recommended for large fish. It uses three #4 “Sputterbirds” attached to the 36" spreader bar with six 15” and three 18" plastic squids on 400# Jinkai line. Optional 500# Jinkai is available as well. It can also be used with a greenstick rig to produce extra resistance and commotion well back from the boat. Also Available Now: New side planing spreader bars with twice the side movement as others. No need for outriggers! Stay tuned for sizes, colors, options. |
