Sputterbird Spreader Bars
This “Sputterbird Spreader Bar” has three “Sputterbird” teasers directly behind the bar, making the bar shake and transmit motion to the other squid. The “Sputterbirds” also follow the contour of the waves so the bar stays on the surface.
Vibrations travel down the center line to the stinger attached at the rear. The stinger vibrates and moves by the action of the "Sputterbirds" which make the stinger look alive and struggling. Using three Sputterbird teasers behind the bar allows the bar to run well back from the boat, as far as 300 ft.
The “Sputterbird Spreader Bar” is constructed with 400 lb. clear Jinkai line attached to a 36" stainless steel bar using heavy crimps and line protectors. Multiple lines drop back from the bar and teasers, carrying 9 to 11 squid. The last squid contains a hidden snap swivel for attaching a stinger (not included). It is best to use a stinger with a nose weight to run 1-3 feet below the surface. See the "Stinger" section for choosing a hooked bait, or try a "Saucy Machine" or "Saucy Bullet" as other options.
The “Sputterbird 17 Spreader Bar” is recommended for large fish. It uses three #7 “Sputterbirds” behind a 36" spreader bar with twelve 18” giant plastic squids. It can also be used with a greenstick rig to produce extra resistance and commotion well back from the boat.
